Delta Area Teachers Policy: Home

Delta State University partners with the community to offer borrowing privileges to teachers in local schools including head start centers.

Identification and Registration

Steps:

1. To qualify for a Delta Area Teacher's card present a valid driver’s license or state-issued photo identification card and school district / Head Start identification card to a staff member in the Instructional Resources Center. If your school does not provide photo IDs, provide the school's web address where you are listed as an employee.

2. Fill out and sign a Delta Area Teacher Registration Form. The information from the form will be filed and entered into the library computer system.

3. You will receive a patron borrowing card with a barcode number attached. This card will expire in one year. Your card is non-transferable. Neither another employee of your school nor a family member may use it.

You must register at the Instructional Resources Center.

Circulation Policies

Available Resources for Checkout

Your Delta Area Teacher's privileged entitles you to check out books from the main collection as well as the Instructional Resources Center's materials. Neither periodicals nor reference books may be checked out.

Because our primary purpose is to serve the information needs of the students, faculty, and staff of Delta State University, some other items, judged on a case-by-case basis, may be restricted from circulation because of class demands.

Delta Area Teachers are not included in the Mississippi Library Partnership Consortium.

Checkout Information

To borrow materials, present your patron borrowing card and picture identification. A maximum of two (2) items may be checked out. The checkout period is three (3) weeks for all patrons, and renewals are granted providing there are no other patron requests for the library materials. You may request a renewal in person or by telephone at 662-846-4430. After the second renewal, the item(s) must be presented at the appropriate desk to be turned in or renewed. Materials must be checked out at the appropriate desk (IRC or Main).

Lost Books

Materials declared lost or damaged will be billed for the replacement cost, plus a nonrefundable $2.00 ordering and shipping fee for each item. If the materials are found and returned within the same fiscal year, only the cost of the item will be refunded. Only lost items found and returned within six (6) months will be refunded, excluding the $2.00 processing fee. No refunds after six months. Borrowers are personally liable for items borrowed and any charges relating to lost and/or damaged items.
